Scripture
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
Doesn’t he leave the ninety‑nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep
until he finds it?” — Luke 15:4
When Jesus told the story of the lost sheep, He wasn’t sketching pastoral scenery. He was pulling back Heaven’s curtain to show us a God who refuses to quit on any one of us, no matter how tangled the terrain or how far we stray.
Years ago a hiker vanished in the Smoky Mountains. Park rangers searched trails, volunteers combed forests, and helicopters traced riverbeds. Hour after hour passed, until a faint whistle answered back. The search team sprinted toward the sound, lifted the exhausted traveler onto a stretcher, and cheered the whole mile out. No expense was too great; no terrain too rough. One life was at stake, and that was reason enough.
God’s pursuit of you makes that rescue look tame.
No place you can go—addiction, unbelief, burnout, shame—puts you beyond His voice.
Nothing you have done—relapses, betrayals, doubts—subtracts from His resolve to bring you home.
The Challenge
Wherever today finds you—on a mountaintop of success or lost in a valley of regret, know this: the Shepherd is already on the trail. Listen for His call, feel the tug of grace, and let yourself be lifted onto His shoulders.
His arms are open wide. Step toward them and discover you were never outside His reach in the first place.
