Our Beliefs

As a congregation of the United Methodist Church, Wesley UMC is guided by the teachings of Scripture, the historic Christian faith, and the principles outlined in The Book of Discipline. Our beliefs center on God’s grace, the call to discipleship, and the mission to transform the world through love and service.

God as Creator and Sovereign
We believe in one God, who created the world and all that is in it. God is the ruler of the universe, omnipotent, and ever-present in our lives

The Bible as Inspired Word
The Holy Scriptures are God’s inspired Word, containing all we need for salvation and guidance. We affirm the Bible’s authority in matters of faith and practice

Wesleyan Heritage and Sources of Authority
Our theology is shaped by Scripture as the primary source, interpreted through tradition, reason, and personal experience. This dynamic interplay helps us understand God’s will for today

Salvation Through Grace
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, available to all through faith in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to nurture this faith and empower believers to grow in holiness

Social Responsibility
As disciples of Christ, we are called to love our neighbors, seek justice, and address systemic inequities. Our faith compels us to act compassionately in a broken world

The Mission of the Church
Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This involves worship, learning, service, and sharing God’s love with all people

These beliefs guide our worship, relationships, and service, reflecting our commitment to living out the gospel in unity and love.
